It's one of our favorite jobs, and we do the whole thing in your driveway. (To be clear: we don't do gas-to-electric conversions — lithium upgrades on electric carts are what we do.)

Why Villages drivers are switching to lithium

In The Villages and around Ocala, a golf cart isn't a toy — it's how you get to the pool, the square and the grocery store. Lead-acid packs are heavy, need watering, corrode their terminals, sag on power as they drain, and are usually done in three to five years. Lithium changes all of that: no maintenance, no watering, full power until the pack is empty, and a service life that outlasts several sets of lead-acid.

Upgrading instead of buying a new cart saves you thousands and keeps the cart you already like — and dropping 200–300 pounds of lead off the frame makes it quicker, easier on the brakes and better riding. It's one of our favorite jobs, and we do the whole thing right in your driveway.

Lithium vs. lead-acid — what actually changes

Lead-acid is the lower upfront cost and works fine for short, around-the-neighborhood driving — but the batteries are heavy, need watering, and last a few years. Lithium costs more upfront and is dramatically lighter, charges faster, lasts far longer, holds voltage (so you get full power until it's empty), and gives you more usable range.

For most Villages drivers who use the cart daily, lithium pays for itself over time — you stop buying a new set of lead-acid every few years. We'll walk you through pack sizes based on how far you actually drive and your budget — no pressure, just the honest math.

What's included in a lithium conversion

A proper lithium conversion is more than dropping a pack in the tray. We pull the old lead-acid, clean up the corrosion it left behind, fit and secure the lithium pack and its battery-management system, sort the wiring and connections, set up the correct lithium charger, and finish with a brakes, tires and safety check so the whole cart is dialed in — not just the batteries.

When we're done you've got a lighter, quicker, low-maintenance cart, and we go over charging and care so you get the most life out of the pack.

How long a lithium conversion takes and what it costs

Every conversion starts with an on-site assessment (from $75): we look at your cart, confirm its condition, and size the pack to how you drive. We then build the quote back at our shop and send it to you — we don't write quotes in the driveway, because doing them properly takes time. You get a firm number before any work begins. Cost depends mostly on pack size, timeline depends on parts, and you'll have both in writing so there are no surprises.
